Larder Beetle

Dermestes lardarius

Widespread in the UK, these Beetles, together with the other Hide Beetles, are serious pests in industrial and domestic kitchens. They are usually found round food cupboards, cookers and refrigerators and may also be prevalent in industrial poultry farms and piggeries. Often, the larvae will bore into timbers and insulation. They are generally indicative of poor hygiene feeding on a diet of high protein food scraps. The adult beetles are excellent fliers, enabling infestations to spread quickly.
